How To Refer
In the Get Paid To industry, including HYIPs, referring people to the program is very important. The main reason for referring is that you usually get money for referring people, if you didn't, then there really is no incentive for you to refer. Even if the program you are using is great, referring can still be hard, but if you know what to do, your downline will be huge before you know it.
Each [GPT] website has a different referral system set up, and it's extremely hard to find any that don't have a referral system. Some of them pay you a flat rate, and based on the program, it might be different. For a small PTR program, a flat rate might be $0.10-$0.50, for a more larger and more complex one, like an autosurf or GPT Complete Offers site, it might be a little bigger, $1-$2.
The other type of referral system is based on referral activity. Some give you a percentage of what your referrals make, and there are some that give you money when your referrals cash out/get paid. Many autosurfs, for example, pay you a percentage of how much money your referral uses for upgrades. Sometimes, the first system mentioned will make you more, sometimes the second. It all really depends on how active your referrals are.
However, the most important thing to know about referring is how to refer. Usually, a lot of people fail because they do something like this:
Go into a forum, sign up, post the FAQ of the website with their referral link, leave, and repeat at another forum.
While that is usually very easy to do, it is not effective. People go into the topic, they see you have one post and signed up just today, it is deemed SPAM, and deleted. That's not what you want! If you plan to get most of your referrals strictly from forum posting, it is important you do it strategically. Although you have to have a lot of self-control and determination to do this technique, it is useful. For the forum posting technique, you sign up at a lot of forums, make 20 posts in each of them through 1 or 2 weeks, all the time with your referral link in your signature (that technique is signature advertising), and then you make a topic about it. It is critical that each topic you write be unique and relevent to the forum, people will know if you are doing a copy & paste job. If you make it sound not as much as you are promoting the site and just trying to help people out, you are more likely to get referrals. Or, you could never make a topic, and just post a lot and try to get referrals strictly from your signature. This actually is a good strategy, and you can pay people to do signature advertising for you, if you don't want to.
While forum posting/signature advertising is the most popular and probably the most effective technique, there are other ways. The other ways usually require you to be more involved, it takes more work, and you usually get less in return, but if forums aren't working for you, then they are your last resort. Here are a few good techniques:
*Passing out flyers: Put them on car windshields, bulletin boards, inside doors, in the flags of mailboxes (not in the mailboxes, that's illegal), or just straight up hand them to people. A "fun way to get active" while promoting something you like.
*Business cards: Basically they are like mini flyers and are somewhat more effective and more professional. Use the same technique as passing out flyers.
*Human advertising: In some instances, actually putting the link on your body is a good way to promote the program. There are actually sites dedicated to selling body space, so it does work, you just have to be very brave to go through with it.
*Emailing/IMing: Email and IM your friends, family, random people, it's all good. Usually if you talk to someone and explain to them how it works while talking in real-time, then you have a better chance of getting referrals. Also, you can purchase a list of emails for a small price and try mass emailing the lot of them, although that is frowned upon.
*Good old fashioned advertising: If the program is really making you some serious money, consider actually purchasing advertising. If it really is good, then you should have no problem getting referrals and making back the money you spent on advertising from them. If you don't feel confident in doing this, then maybe the program isn't actually that good.
